Customs Compliance Officer – Freight & Supply Chain

Our client, a leading supply chain specialist, is seeking an experienced Customs Compliance Officer to oversee their customs operations, compliance procedures, and manage AEO accreditation, Customs Bonded Warehousing, and HMRC audits.

This is an exciting opportunity for a seasoned customs professional to take ownership of compliance processes, drive improvements, and contribute to the continued success of a well-established organisation.

Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee the day-to-day management of customs operations, ensuring full compliance with HMRC regulations and AEO standards.
• Complete customs entries daily and ensure accuracy in all documentation and submissions.
• Manage AEO HMRC processes, customs audits, and implement continuous improvements.
• Produce detailed daily, weekly, and monthly reports on customs entries and compliance status for senior management.
• Collaborate with the sales team to support onboarding and smooth transitions for new customs clients.
• Maintain and expand supplier relationships, identifying new suppliers to enhance the company's network.
• Support business development efforts by assisting with new client acquisition when required.
• Mentor and train customs apprentices and team members, fostering a high-performance culture.

Key Requirements:

• Minimum of 10 years’ experience in the freight forwarding industry, specialising in customs compliance and entries.
• In-depth knowledge of HMRC import/export regulations and customs systems.
• Proven ability to complete customs entries for sea, air, and road shipments from EU and Non-EU countries.
• Strong customer service skills with a proactive approach to handling queries and client expectations.
• Experience in training and developing customs apprentices to a high standard.
• Excellent proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, etc.).
